Louis Wellen of route 4 (Greenwood, Clark Co., Wis.), in the city last Friday and tells us that one of his cows gave birth to a freak calf.

The calf had six legs, two tails and two bodies. The calf had but one head and about half way between the head and tail another back bone branched off, forming another body, complete with hind legs and tail. The calf was born dead, but Mr. Wellen expects to have it mounted.

Mr. Wellen thinks he has a new breed of cattle at his place and is anxiously awaiting developments. If they are different from the rest, he claims he will soon make a fortune, as he says the calf that was born, being a heifer, he would have two cows to milk and only one to feed. When killing it, he would have four hind quarters instead of two and also two tails for ox tail soup. These cows would sure be money makers and we wish Mr. Wellen success.
