Loyal Class of 1949 gets together
Eighteen members of the Loyal High School Class of
1949 met for a 65-year reunion at Rumor’s in Loyal on
Sept. 3. Those attending were (front from left) Milton
Knack, Frank Pieper, Colleen (Bertz) Kraeger, Dona
(Lindekugel) Lucht, Betty (Pockrandt) Landwehr, Ilene
(Rowley) Schlinsog, Leonard Vandehey, (second row)
Vernon “Bud” Smith, James Voigt, Elmer Gotter, Richard
Esselman, Reuben Garbisch, Ed Schecklman, LeRoy
Schmitz, (back) Harold Collinson, Donald Bugar, James
Davel and Robert Waldhauser.
Three class members -- Dona Lucht, Jim Voigt and Betty Landwehr -- were
in school together since the first grade, at
Taft School
in rural Loyal area (Sherman Twp.). They all lived on farms along the same
road, went to school together through high school, and
even attended Confirmation classes together at Trinity
Lutheran Church in Loyal.
