------ Messer, Marilyn Jane (13 AUG 1966)

Miss Marilyn Jane Messer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ansel E. Messer of Unity, and John Robert Tesmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Tesmer of Colby, repeated their marriage promises Saturday, Aug 13. The 2 o’clock ceremony took place at Trinity Lutheran church, Unity, with the Rev. Robert Sutherland officiating.

Miss Kathy Justman, the bride’s cousin, was organist and accompanist for Mrs. Jeanne Dahlen, the groom’s sister, who sang “The Lord’s Prayer” and “Lord, Who at Cana’s Feast”.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of linen with a Valencienes lace overskirt with a scalloped hemline. The bodice was lace with rounded neckline and short sleeves and a lace panel train was attached to the empire waist line. A linen pillbox headpiece held her shoulder length veil of nylon illusion.

Baskets of gladiolus were carried by the bride and her two attendants. Pale peach combined with stephanotis were arranged in the bride’s basket and deep peach and white gladiolus were in those of the attendants. Their headpieces were peach pillboxes, similar in design to the bride’s with small circular veils.

The attendants were attired alike in floor length dresses of peach linen that featured scoop necklines and A-line skirts with white daisy accent at the empire waists.

For her matron of honor she chose her sister-in-law, Mrs. Robert Messer of Akron, Ohio, and Miss Judy Martinson of Mt. Horeb was bridesmaid.

John F. Stoelting of Kiel was best man and Michael T. Belland of Waukesha was groomsman.

Russell Bixby of Downers Grove, Ill. And James Sietz of Duluth performed the ushering duties.

Festivities of the wedding day included a reception at the home of the bride’s parents and a buffet supper at the church after which about 20 members of the groom’s fraternity, Delta Rho Upsilon, serenaded the couple with the Delta Rho sweetheart song.

After Aug 27, when the new Mr. and Mrs. Tesmer return from a honeymoon trip to the Rocky Mountain national park in Colorado and the Black Hills, they will live at 2114 Elmwood Ave., Apt. 4, Waukegan, Ill.

The bride, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in June, will teach in Woodland junior high school at Gages Lake, Ill. Her husband, a June graduate of Carroll college, will teach in Warren Township high school at Gurnee, Ill.

About 120 guests attended the wedding and came from Oshkosh, Janesville, Eau Claire, Greendale, Milwaukee, Waukesha, Spencer, Riplinger, Akron, Ohio and the Chicago area.
