Mr. and Mrs. George Miller Sr. of Unity received the congratulations of over 100 guests at open house held from 2 to 5 o’clock Saturday, June 18, on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary.

Among the guest were Mrs. Emma Helmke, a sister-in-law of the bride of 1916, and William Miller, a brother of the groom, who were attendants at the wedding.

George Miller, a native of the town of Unity, was educated in the township and farmed there before his marriage to Jennie Helmke who lived in Unity, having come from Kaukauna.  The marriage ceremony was held at the home of the bride on June 21, with the Rev. Matter officiating.

For 33 years of their marriage they farmed in the town of Unity and after retirement in 1949 they lived in the village of Unity.

Their only son, George Jr., route 1, Unity, and two grand daughters, Merry and Christine, hosted the open house festivities at Memorial hall, Unity.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Miller enjoy good health.  They are members of Trinity Lutheran church, Unity.

Guests at the anniversary celebration included Mrs. Louis Helmke, Park Falls, Mrs. Otto Helmke, Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Muir and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Muir and family, Blue Island, Ill., Mrs. Nada Miller, South Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Helmke, Mr. and Mrs. John Lindick, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. August Helmke, Mrs. Marie Helmke, Mr. and Mrs. William Helmke and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sangren, Stratford, and many friends from Colby and Unity.
