Mary Therese Nied, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Nied, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), has been notified that she is the recipient of a $1,200 scholarship from Rutgers University – Douglas College in New Brunswick, N.J. Mary, who holds the highest average in the Thorp High School graduating class of 1966, was also given two other financial aid awards to make a total of $1,950, which contains a renewable clause on basis of academic standing.

During the three years that Mary has spent at Maria High in Stevens Point, and her senior year at Thorp, she has participated in the Library Club, Latin Club, Slide Rule Club, G.A.A., and served as captain in the Curtiss Drive. She has also been a member of the Senior Class play cast, Cardinal Hi-Lites co-editor, and a member of the yearbook staff. Besides being a winner of a National Merit Scholarship Letter of Commendation, Mary has received various honors and prizes in poetry, Latin and science.

The scholarship awards, which were based on scholastic excellence and extra-curricular achievements, will enable Mary to major in Medical Technology at Douglas College.
