------ Sterzinger, Mr. & Mrs. Joe (60th Anniversary - 15 MAY 1966)

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sterzinger; Colby, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, May 15.

To begin the day, they attended Sunday morning mass at St. Mary’s church.  Relatives arrived throughout the afternoon to join the couple in their celebration.  Corsages were presented to the honored couple, provided by their children.  Many cards, gifts and flowers were also received.

Relatives who attended the celebration were from West Allis, Milwaukee, Kenosha, Marshfield, Athens, Shawano, Unity, Stratford, Edgar, Dorchester, Schofield and the surrounding communities.

Joe Sterzinger and Dena Hagelschur were married May 15, 1906, at St. Mary’s church, Colby, with Rev. Reding officiating at the ceremonies.

Attendants at their wedding were Mr. Sterzinger’s sister and brother, Barbara and Mike, and Mrs. Sterzinger’s brother, Barney, and sister, Anna.  Of these attendants, only Anna (Mrs. Anna Beattie, Milwaukee) survives and she was able to come to the anniversary celebration Sunday.

Mrs. Sterzinger was born January 14, 1885, to Mr. and Mrs. Anton Hagelschur at Kaukauna.

Joseph Sterzinger, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Sterzinger, was born June 12, 1876, at West Allis.

Since their marriage the Sterzingers have lived on a farm one mile west of Colby.  They are the parents of five children, Rudy, at home, Margaret (Mrs. Elmer Greaser), West Allis, Elizabeth (Mrs. Bernard Dahlke), Edgar, deceased, and two sons who died in infancy.

Among those in attendance at the celebration were two sisters-in-law of the groom, Laura (Mrs. Frank Sterzinger), and Lena (Mrs. George Sterzinger), and four sisters and one brother of the bride, Mrs. Anna Beattie, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. August Imoehl, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hagelschur, Kenosha, Mrs. Ray Lathrop, Milwaukee, and Miss Barbara Hagelschur, Marshfield, and seven grand children and seven great grand children.
