Humbird (3 August 1972)

Mr. and Mrs. Anton Zurther of Berne, Switzerland, are making a seven-week tour of the United States. They are cousins of Mrs. Howard Pierce of Black River Falls, who, with her husband, visited them in Switzerland in March. Thursday Mrs. Pierce and her guests came to the home of Mrs. Will Theiler, a cousin, for a visit. Mrs. Emma Gerber, Mr. and Mrs. William Aebersold and Mrs. Millie Trachsel gathered at the Theiler home for a visit. Friday Mrs. Pierce, and Mrs. Theiler and Mr. and Mrs. Zurther drove to Eau Claire to have dinner with another cousin, Mrs. Roy Easterson. Mr. and Mrs. Zurther will also visit relatives in San Francisco and other cities in the west.

The W.S.C.S. will meet Thursday, August 10, at 2 p.m. in the Thrift Shop. A business meeting will be held, followed by an hour of work and a picnic lunch. Please bring your own dishes.

Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hardwick of Fargo, N.D., visited from Wednesday until Friday with his mother, Mrs. Elgie Hardwick, with his brother, Daryl Hardwick, and other relatives here and in Altoona.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Thompson and son of Kenosha visited their niece and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Levi Fitzmaurice, Thursday.

Mrs. Gertrude Hoogewind of Grand Rapids, Mi., who had been visiting friends in Madison, came Friday to spend several days with her sister, Mrs. Henry Laffe. Saturday, Mrs. Kurt Schlei of Green Bay came and Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Ben Clouse of Loyal joined the family for a visit. Mrs. Schlei and Mr. and Mrs. Clouse returned to their homes Sunday afternoon.

Callers Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Kate Dignin were Mr. and Mrs. Garald Hart of Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Oligney of Black River Falls and Mrs. Bernard Sieg, Jill and Jeff.

Mrs. Arnold Matti spent Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Freida Zerbel.

Mrs. Helene Nelson and Mrs. Hilda Schneider of Eau Claire were dinner and afternoon guests Sunday at the Newton home.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Morgan and Becky of Richland Center visited Sunday afternoon at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Maude Newton.

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Zimmerman and their daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Garman of Eau Claire and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Morgan of Sparta and grandsons, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Morgan and Wendy of Angel and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Morgan and Becky of Richland Center enjoyed a family dinner in the park Sunday.

Mrs. John Ramirez, Nina, Desi, Angela, Rocko, Nando and John who have been visiting her mother, Mrs. Kate Dignin, left Saturday for their home in Gary, In.

George Krueger of Eau Claire stopped for a friendly call at the Levi Fitzmaurice home Friday evening while enroute on a business trip.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Newell of Hixton were supper guests Sunday of his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Newell.

Tuesday, Mrs. Laura Dignin and her guests, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Creviston of Downeyville, Ca., and Mrs. Beatrice Stuve drove to Union Grove to stay until Wednesday at the home of the ladies’ brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Tubbs.

Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett drove to Stoddard Thursday to see her sister, Mrs. Marion Jamboys, and daughter, Kathy. Kathy had been seriously injured in a car accident just recently. Before coming home Sunday they drove to Preston, Ia., to see her aunt, Mrs. Anna Nieland, and an uncle, August Kilburt who is in his 99th year.

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Meyer and two sons of Neillsville spent Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett.

Mr. and Mrs. Milton Creviston, Mrs. Laura Dignin and Mrs. Beatrice Stuve drove to Ladysmith Sunday to spend the day with Mrs. Lucille Jacobs.

Mr. and Mrs. Everett Senske and boys of St. Paul, Mn, Mrs. Millie Trachsel and her two grandsons from Rochester, Mn, and Judy Walker visited Mr. and Mrs. Archie Kirby Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Theiler and children of Cataract were dinner guests Sunday of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Theiler.

Mrs. Emma Gerber returned Thursday from a visit at the home of her sister, Mrs. Wendell Riggs, in Zion, Il. While there she saw the “Passion Play”, which is given by local people each year in July and August; then visited the sunken gardens in Milwaukee and took a boat ride at Lake Geneva. Mrs. Clara Tande of Alma Center accompanied Mrs. Gerber.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Noyes of Eau Claire were recent callers at the Chester Bailey home.

In the absence of the Rev. Kirkpatrick, Walter Jenswold will conduct the worship service at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Humbird at 9 a.m. on August 13.
