GREENWOOD PUBLIC SCHOOL IN READINESS FOR OPENING SEPT. 3RD
The finishing touches have been done on the school house floors, the windows
have been washed and new books are
in readiness for the opening of school next Tuesday at nine o’clock. The
forenoon of the opening day in the high
school, will be devoted to registration. Regular classes will be held in the
afternoon. All classes will meet on the
first day for half of the usual class period. A delay has occurred in the
changes being made in the Home Economics
Department, caused by difficulties in the heating arrangement for the new Home
Economics room. However, it is
hoped that this room will be ready for occupation before the end of the first
week of school.
The school faculty for this year has been completed. Orville Deuel of Greenwood,
will again be Principal. The
High School faculty will consist of Miss Bertha Bienfang, of Fort Atkinson,
English and Latin; Miss Lorraine Sell
of Glidden, Home Economics; Miss Beulah Griswold of La Crosse, English, and
history; Glen Crowley of River
Falls, social science, Robert Davenport of Greenwood, Agriculture; Donald Moore
of Darland, science and athletic
coach; Harvey Williams of Plamyra, Commercial; and M.G. Hamel of Arpin, band.

2; Miss Avis Jacobson of
Madison, Minnesota, Grades 3 and 4; Miss Ruth Peterson of Prescott, Grades 5 and

Additional tools have been purchased for the new farm shop which was used for
the first time last year. With the
additional tools and equipment, the Greenwood High School Farm Shop will be an
outstanding class room. The
purpose of the farm shop is to teach boys and girls (if they wish) the
mechanical skills connected with farming.
