Bartelt, Donald E. (30 AUG 1931 - 17 APR 2014)

Donald E. Bartelt, 82, Town of Greenwood, died on Thursday, April 17 at Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center in Medford, where he had resided the past 14 months. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 22 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in the Town of Greenwood, with Rev. Joseph Dietrich officiating.

Interment was at St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery in the Town of Greenwood. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Kurt and Derek Brahmer, Justin and Jason Dassow, Travis Zettler, and Michael, Dustin, Devin and Damin Bartelt.

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

Donald Bartelt was born on August 30, 1931 in the Town of Greenwood to the late George and Bertha (Klein) Bartelt. He attended Buddy Elementary School in the Town of Greenwood.

On October 11, 1952 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Medford, he married Elaine A. Frahmann, who survives. They owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Greenwood until his retirement in 1997. While farming, he also worked as a truck driver for Eggert Company, worked at the Medford Co-op Creamery, owned and operated school busses for the Rib Lake School District, sold and installed Berg barn equipment, and owned and operated a gravel and excavating business.

He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where he served on the cemetery board and was president and treasurer on the church council, and served as supervisor and chairman for the Town of Greenwood. He enjoyed playing cards, camping and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his wife, survivors include five children, Beverly (Duane) Brahmer, David "Okey" (Linda) Bartelt and Donald "Chip" (Jeanine) Bartelt, all of Medford, Kathy (Randy) Dassow of Rib Lake, and Linda (David) Zettler of Athens; five siblings, Melvin Bartelt of Sussex, Harold Bartelt of Medford, Kenneth (Doris) Bartelt of Rib Lake, Bernard (Bernice) Bartelt of New Berlin and Darlene Gordon of Abbotsford; a brother-in-law, John Klimeck of Medford; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Loren Bartelt in February 1971; two sisters, Ethel Klimeck and Phyllis Bartelt in infancy; and two sisters-in-law, Mary and Francis Bartelt.
