Wimmer, Edmund James Anthony (31 AUG 1926 - 13 APR 2014)

Edmund James Anthony Wimmer was born to Theodore and Agnes Wimmer on August 31, 1926, and was unexpectedly called home by our Lord on April 13, 2014.

Ed was baptized Catholic and received his late rites at age 87. He earned his education at Holy Rosary Grade School and Medford High School. He was one of 14 children (brother James died young).

He married Lois Marie Reigert on May 6, 1953, and they had nine children together.

Ed worked at the local creamery for 19 years. In 1966, the family moved to Milwaukee where he worked at Gateway Trucking Company and on Jones Island part time. His Teamster buddies nicknamed him "Steady Eddy" as he rarely missed a day of work. As an active union member and a truck driver, he retired at age 50 from Glendenning, and returned to the farm in Medford. Ed was active at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Milwaukee.

He enjoyed country living, and maintained an extensive vegetable garden, grew flowers that he affectionately called "blooming weeds." This past winter, he rarely missed a day to put a scoop or two of corn out for the wildlife. He looked forward to daily visits on his property from the deer, birds, turkeys and, on special occasions, an eagle or hawk. He loved having family and friends visit. He truly enjoyed each hunting and fishing season. He easily joked and made people laugh. What a character. He is sorely missed.

He is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth, Mary (Len) and Patricia (Jerry); his brothers, William (Mary), Thomas (Marge) and David (Gail); his beloved children, Jean, Donna, Nancy, Daniel (Judy), Judith, Joyce (Michael), Barbara, and Cynthia (David); along with grandchildren, Stefanie Melo (Hernando), Angelita, Amy, Christina, Daniel, Andrew, Laura, Terry, Bobby, Tony and Henry; and great-grandchildren, Trinity, Zoe and Clark.

Preceded in death by his son, Wayne; brothers, Raymond, Howard, Eugene, Theodore, Donald, and Robert; his parents; and his ex-wife, Lois.

Services will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 27 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. Mass at 4:30 p.m. Memorials to Taylor Credit Union, 825 E. Allman St., Medford, for the Ed Wimmer fund are appreciated.
