Staron, Frances (9 March 1917 - 7 April 2014)

Frances Staron, age 97, of Stanley, passed away on April 7, 2014, at her home with her family by her side and under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice, Chippewa Falls.

Frances was born on the family farm on March 9, 1917, in the Town of Thorp, the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Ciolkosz) Staron. She grew up in the Town of Thorp and attended local rural schools. She then moved to Chicago where she was employed at Sears Roebuck, Bell Telephone, and the the Sunbeam Co. until her retirement when she moved back to Stanley to be with family. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, collecting coins and stamps, journaling and researching genealogy.

Frances is survived by her dear brother-in-law, Henry Nyckel of Stanley; sister, Laurencia Osowski of Withee; brothers: Fred (June) Staron of Berkley, IL, Adam (Theresa) Staron of Janesville, and Laurence (Bonnie) Staron of Virginia; sister-in-law, Edith Staron; plus numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Anne Bania; brothers: John, Sylvester, and Edward Staron. Her sister Eugenia died two days later on April 9, 2014.

A joint funeral mass for Eugenia Nyckel and Frances Staron was held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Stanley with Father William Felix officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Czestochowa Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Home with a Legion Auxiliary service and parish rosary at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
