Higgins, Glenn S. (14 JUL 1926 - 17 FEB 2014)

Glenn S. Higgins, 87, of Medford, passed away on Monday, Feb. 17, at Memorial Health Center in Medford, with his family by his side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. Father Gerard Willger will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Full military rites by the Medford VFW Post No. 5729 outside the church will follow the service.

Glenn was born on July 14, 1926 in the Town of Molitor to the late Sherman W. and Beulah (Donaldson) Higgins.

He attended Donaldson School and Pine Tree School in the Town of Molitor, and Medford High School. Glenn joined the United States Navy in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He served in the Pacific Theater, operating landing crafts and PT boats.

After his discharge from the Navy, he worked in Milwaukee until his marriage to Delores Fischer, which took place on May 8, 1947 in Waukesha. They returned to Medford and he worked at Hurd Millwork and farmed in the Town of Molitor until his retirement. He was a great father to his children. Glenn was a member of Klossner-Dietzler VFW Post No. 5729.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 66 years, Delores Higgins of Medford; children, Dan (Kathy) Higgins, Darrell (Val) Higgins, Bruce (Pam) Higgins, Kathy (Dale Euclid) Higgins, Robin (Paul) Schmidt, Marty (Tonya) Higgins, and Steve Fischer and family, all of Medford, Constance (Wayne) Wagner of Withee, and Julie (Mark) Tyznik of Colby; two brothers, Richard (Irene) Higgins and Roger (Faith) Higgins, both of Medford; two sisters, Lorraine Gengler and Florence (Malen) Warczytowa, both of Medford; 33 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Genevieve Gengler, Caroline Butler and Marie Nelson; and brothers-in-law, Eugene Gengler, Wilfred Butler, Conrad Nelson, Matthew Gengler, Marvin Fischer, Calvin Hein, and Rick Patton.

The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford assisted the family with arrangements.
