Madsen, John A. (4 December, 1933 - 14 February 2014) With Flag

John A. Madsen, 80, formerly of Neillsville and Eau Claire joined his heavenly family Valentine’s Day, 2014, under a full moon. John had resided at the Clark County Health Care Center for the last seven years.

John was born Dec. 4, 1933, in Gresham, the youngest of five children born to Mats and Carrie (Sorenson) Madsen. He was raised and received his education in Neillsville. John served in the U. S. Air Force as an aircraft engine mechanic from 1953 to 1974. After retiring from the Air Force, he resided in Eau Claire.

John enjoyed listening to music, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles and especially going to auctions.

John is survived by nieces, nephews and brothers-in-law, LeRoy Hagen and Herb Kallas. He is further survived by good friends, Gary and Pat Moschkau.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Adrian “Bill”, Arlene and Doris; and two nephews, Kent Koehler and Lee Hagen.

A private memorial service will take place at a later date. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the arrangements.

Memorials would be appreciated to the Clark County Jail, now a historical museum in which John spent some of his early years when his father was Clark County Sheriff.

The family would also like to thank the Clark County Health Care Center for the wonderful care and concern over many years that John was a resident.
