Stanton, John #2 (12 MAR 1874 - 15 FEB 1949)

John Stanton was born March 12, 1874 in Humbird. He received his education in rural schools and moved to Mondovi at the age of 10. He lived there with his parents for three years and then moved to Greenwood where he conducted a butcher shop and stock barn.

On September 29, 1898, he married Edna Heth at Mondovi and then in 1922 he moved to Marshfield. He lived there for five years and then moved to Neillsville. For the past 14 years he had resided on a farm at the southern edge of the city.

He became ill about 18 months ago and had been confined to his bed for the past four weeks.

Mr. Stanton passed away at his home in Neillsville Tuesday night, February 15, 1949.

He is survived by his wife and a son Jay, Neillsville and three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Surviving half brothers and sisters include Hugh, Martinez, Calif.; Mrs. Minnie Payne, Grass Valley, Calif.; and Mrs. Lottie Gibson, Los Angeles, Calif.
