Wiltsey, Ruth #2 (14 AUG 1891 - 01 JAN 1948)

Mrs. Ruth Wiltsey, nee Loos, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. George Loos, was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 14, 1891 and came with her parents to Greenwood in the fall of 1911.

She graduated from Milwaukee Normal School and taught at Frederick and Stratford, South Dakota and at Globe and Owen, Wisconsin. She was also employed at clerk at the Farmer Store Company in Greenwood for several years.

She was a member of the Zion Reformed Church and their Ladies Aid and was president and held other offices of the Aid. She was a Charter member of the Greenwood Woman’s Club and held the office of president from 1936 to 1938. Always willing to do her part and more. A book will be placed in her honor in the Greenwood Public Library by the club.

In 1946 she went to Milwaukee to live with her daughter, Mrs. Gladys Horgen and granddaughter Carol Horgen at 2343 N. 65th Street. Mrs. Wiltsey passed away at her home in Milwaukee on Thursday, January 1, 1948. Her death was sudden although she had undergone an operation recently.

Funeral services were held at the Zion Reformed Church in Greenwood on Monday, January 5, 1948 at 2 p.m. Rev. B.M. Fresenborg officiated. She was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery beside her parents.

During the service the choir consisting of Mrs. Daniel Olson, Miss Martha Horn and Miss Louise Keiner sang “In the Garden” “Sometime We’ll Understand” and “Sweetly Resting” accompanied by Mrs. Adolph Meyer at the organ.
Mrs. Wiltsey is survived by her daughter Mrs. Gladys Horgen and granddaughter Carol of Milwaukee; two brothers, Roland of Abbotsford and Alfred of Dallas, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1912, and two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Kessel and Miss Emma Loos also in 1912, another sister Mrs. Laura Krokus in 1826 and her mother in 1931.
