Sillick, Finley Edward (October 13, 1880 - 18 Sep 1944)*

Dr. Sillick was born at Tecswater, a hamlet of northern Ontario, located not far from Lake Huron. He had farming antecedents, and in his early years went to the public schools and helped with farm work. As a young man he went to Saskatchewan and took up a homestead near Regina. It was during this experience that he became interested in veterinary science. He went to Toronto Veterinary college and according to the family records, graduated from there in 1908.

Upon his graduation Dr. Sillick was invited to take over for six months a veterinary practice at Midland, Mich. He crossed over into the United States without the formality of a passport, as did many others in those days. His intention at first was to remain for the six months only. At the end of that service, however, he heard of opportunities in Wisconsin; journeyed to Madison; took the veterinary examination; was advised of an opening in Greenwood. He came to Greenwood and began his own practice there. It was during that time that he met and married Olga Bradeson of Withee, who survives him. The marriage took place at Neillsville, March 31, 1909.
