Syth, Katherine #2 (05 APR 1864 - 14 DEC 1942)

Mrs. Kate Syth, 78, who was a resident of Greenwood for many years, died at 6:20 p.m. Monday, December 14, 1942 at her home.

Mrs. Syth, nee Katherine Gorman, was born April 5, 1864 at Davenport, Iowa, and came to Wisconsin when a young girl. On October 29, 1891 she was united in marriage to Robert Syth. To this union were born five children, a baby boy who died in infancy, Mrs. Irvin (Dimple) Lewis of Tacoma, Wash.; Mrs. August (Merle) Dittner, Gerber, Calif.; Guy Syth of Montana and Gerald Syth of Greenwood.

Mr. Syth passed away many years ago.

She leaves to mourn her loss, the above named children, three brothers, Fred Gorman, Marshfield; Jim and Lou address unknown. Fourteen grandchildren and four great grand children and host of friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Grace Methodist Church with Rev. A.J. Abbott officiating. She was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery.

The pallbearers were H.L. Flatz, H.R. Baird, Richard Shields, E.L. Mlada, John Arends and John Putzel.

Mrs. H.L. Flatz and Mrs. Noetzel had charge of the flowers.

Those who attended the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Art Kruger, Curtiss; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Precity, Stanley; Mrs. Howe, Gladys Parrot, Frank Kelly and Mrs. Stanton all of Neillsville.

MRS. KATE SYTH, 78, DIES MONDAY NIGHT
FUNERAL SERVICES FOR RESIDENT OF GREENWOOD WILL BE THURSDAY


Greenwood--Mrs. Kate Syth, 78, died at 6:30 p.m. yesterday, Dec. 14, 1942 at her home in the city of Greenwood, Clark County, the result of old age complication, after having been in poor health since Sept. 1942. She suffered a brain concussion in a fall at this time and had been a patient at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield for three weeks following the accident.


Mrs. Syth, nee Kate Gorman, was born in Davenport, Iowa, April 5, 1864, and had been a resident of Greenwood for many years. Her husband, Robert Syth, preceded her in death 19 years ago.


Surviving are two sons, Guy Syth, of the State of Montana, and Gerald Syth, Greenwood two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Dimples) Lewis, Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. August (Merle) Dittner, Gerber, Calif. a brother, Fred Gorman, Marshfield and a number of grandchildren.


Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Grace Methodist Church, the Rev. Alex J. Abbott officiating. Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
