Petke, Dawn Marie (Marriage - 2 October 1971)

Miss Dawn Marie Petke and Stephen Jerome Skowronek were married Saturday, October 2, at 2:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Withee. The Rev. Hellert officiated at the double-ring ceremony which united the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Petke of Rt. 1, Withee, and the son of Mrs. John Skowronek of Minneapolis.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of Candlelight bonded crepe fashioned with cuffed, full sleeves and a laced satin vest. Her bouquet included white roses, rust mums and pompons.

Gloria Jean Petke, Withee, was the bride’s honor attendant. Bridesmaids were Peggy Looker, Eau Claire, Wendy Petke, Withee, and Pam Olsen and Ann Skowronek, both of Minneapolis. They were attired in brown crepe gowns accented with deep gold laced sashes and carried bouquets of white pompons, tangerine carnations and rust mums.

Paul Evangelist, Minneapolis served as bestman. Groomsmen were Larry Looker, Eau Claire and Bill Skowronek, Andrew Skowronek and Gale Gilbertsen all of Minneapolis. Joseph Skowronek and Kenneth Carlson both of Minneapolis acted as ushers.

Wedding music included “Love Story,” “The lord’s Prayer” and “Wedding Prayer”. A reception for approximately 300 guests was held at the Owen American Legion Hall.

The new Mrs. Skowronek is a graduate of Owen-Withee Senior high School and of Metropolitan College in Milwaukee. Her husband, a graduate of Edison High School, is a veteran of four years service in the Navy. Both are employed in Minneapolis.

Following a wedding trip to Bemidji, Mn. the newlyweds will live in Minneapolis.
