Three Greenwood High School seniors will graduate with special honors May
20th, 1953. They are Darlene Horn, valedictorian, Corrine Hare, salutatorian,
and Judith Behrens, who ranks third in the graduating class scholastically, and
who will receive the D.A.R. Good Citizenship Award. All three girls have done
exceptional work in their regular classes and all ahve been very active in
various co-curricular activities.
Darlene Horn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Hubert Horn, Route 3, Greenwood, will graduate with top honors. Darlene has been
a member of the band and girls glee club, and has been a very active member of
the Greenwood High School F.H.A. organization, in which she has as
vice-president and secretary. She is make-up editor of the school paper and is
also a member of the annual staff. Darlene has also participated in forensics,
has been a cheerleader and is a member of the photo club.
Corrine Hare,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merril Hare, Greenwood, has also been very active in a
variety of school activities, as well as doing excellent work in her classes.
Corrine has shown much talent in forensics and dramatics, and has won top awards
for her work in these fields. She is a member of the glee club and chorus and
has been a member of the F.H.A. throughout the four years of high school. She
has been selected by the students to be a cheerleader all four years, and served
as secretary of her class as as a junior. She has also done much work in vocal
ensembles.
Judith Behrens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Behrens, Route
1, Owen, will received the D.A.R. Good Citizenship Award. Judith was selected to
received this award by her fellow classmates and the high school faculty.
Selection was made on the basis of the following qualities: dependability,
service, leadership and patriotism. Judith is very talented musically and has
appeared many times as a vocal, piano or instrumental soloist, as well as being
a member of the band, chorus and glee club. She has been in demand as an
accompanist by soloist and musical groups. She is editor of the school paper
this year and has been active in forensics and dramatics in high school.
