Schiller, Edward H. (19 OCT 1937 - 24 DEC 2013)

Elwood H. Schiller, age 76, of Loyal, passed away at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, in Marshfield, on Tuesday, December 24, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal, with Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiating. Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery, in Marshfield, at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church, on Tuesday, from 9am until time of service.

Elwood Harold Schiller was born on October 19, 1937, in the town of Richfield, Wood County, WI, the son of Harold and Mary (Trachte) Schiller. He was raised on the family farm and received his education in the Pittsville area. Elwood was united in marriage to Hazel E. Mengeling on July 20, 1957 at St. John's Lutheran Church, in Pittsville. Elwood farmed for 35 years with his wife, first in Pittsville, then in Marshfield, and finally moving to Loyal in 1972. He also worked for 6 years at Richfield Dairy, and 25 years at Weyerhauser. Elwood retired from farming in 1992.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Loyal FFA Alumni. Elwood had many interests, but especially loved spending time with his family, the Brewers, the Packers, and playing sheephead and 31. Elwood was also known around the Loyal area as Santa Claus, which he played for many events and family's for 35 years. Elwood will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him.

He will be dearly missed by his children, Edwin Schiller (Diane) of Loyal; Candace (Terry) Nau of Medford; Jay Schiller of Marshfield; Dean Schiller (Adrianne Ewald) of Greenville; Steven Schiller (Laurie) of Marshfield; grandchildren, Scott (Leann) Schiller, Krista (Jeremy) Goessl, Lindsey (Nick) Wells, Jeremy Schiller, Tyler Schiller, Kelsi (Josh) Trachte, Taylor Trachte; great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Liberty, Hailey, Alainna; two brothers, Russ (Bev) Schiller of Pittsville, Melvin (Mary) Schiller of Pittsville; one sister, Sharon (Glen) Brueggeman of Marshfield; special family members, Allan and Julie Trachte, Sarah Bray; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Hazel, on October 3, 2012; one brother, Dale Schiller; and one sister, Darlene Schiller.
