Right to left: Lorraine, Dale, Janet

Columbus, Wis. – Lorraine M. Fauser, 80, a resident of the Columbus Care Center, died on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at the center.

She was born on Jan. 3, 1924 in Odell, Livingston Co., Illinois to August and Sylvia (Finch) Vitoux where she attended grade school.  In 1938 she moved with her parents and to Valparaiso, Porter Co., Illinois.

November 15, 1941, she married Dale Clayton Fauser, the son of Clarence and Lillian (Pahl) Fauser.  Their vows were taken in his parents home in Crown Point, Lake Co., Indiana and the newlyweds made their home in apartment in the second story of that residence.  After their first two children were born, they moved into a small two bedroom home the new "Liberty Park" subdivision.  While living there, Lorraine worked part-time as a clerk in the candy department at the five and dime.  Dale worked as a auto body man for the Ford Motor Sales.  The family purchased a tavern in the resort town of Cedar Lake, Indiana where both them worked while still attending to their day jobs.

Lorraine was a wonderful homemaker and cook.  She was known to break into a yodel at family get-togethers and like to dance.  She became a farmer's wife in 1961 when she and Dale moved their family to Greenwood, Beaver Township, Clark Co., Wisconsin where she perfected the bread making and canning skills she'd acquired from her mother.  Her aunt and uncle and several cousins were already farming in Greenwood and later her younger brother Howard also purchased acreage the area.  In 1965, the Fausers moved to Athens, Wis. and later resided in Fall River, Wisconsin in a lake-front home.  Lorraine worked in the laundry at a nursing home in nearby Columbus.

Survivors include three sons, Jim (Lana), Valparaiso, Ind., Craig (Pat) and Keith (Mary), both of Fall River; one daughter, Janet (Stan Schwarze), Rochester, Minn.; nine grandchildren, 4 sisters and 2 brothers; plus other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dale Jan. 30, 1998; and four brothers.

As was her request, there will be no service.

She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

The Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, is serving the family.
