Olson-Dehne, Alice R. (26 JUN 1923 - 17 DEC 2013)

Alice R. Olson-Dehne, 90, Greenwood, died at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, in Marshfield, on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Greenwood. Rev. Brian Campbell will officiate and burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff Olson, Chad Olson, Travis Olson, Dustin Olson, Jeremy Olson, Andy Nielsen and Ryan Nielsen. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cuddie Funeral Home, in Greenwood, and again at church, on Friday, from 10am until time of service.

Alice Ruth Wendt was born on June 26, 1923, in the town of Longwood, Clark County, Wis., the daughter of John and Clara (Noah) Wendt. She was raised on the family farm north of Greenwood, received her education at Longwood State Graded School, and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1940. Alice was united in marriage to Daniel Olson on June 3, 1941, at Zion United Church of Christ, in Greenwood. She and her husband raised five children, their three sons each being born on New Year's Day, two years apart. Alice worked at the Farmer's Store in Greenwood, at the Greenwood IGA Store, and then later 22 years as secretary for the Greenwood School District, where she was known as "Ms. Alice". Her husband, Daniel, died on Nov. 28, 1987. She was later united in marriage to Arnold Dehne on June 11, 1994, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, in Greenwood. They resided in Greenwood. Arnie died on Feb. 16, 2009.

She was a member of the former Zion United Church of Church, where she was the organist for 16 years, was a current member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, loved to dance and loved music. She even started her own band while in grade school.

Alice will be dearly missed by her children, Jerry Olson, Burnsville, Minn.; Duane (Donna) Olson, Greenwood; Dick (Margie) Olson, Holmen; Diane (Wayne) Nielsen, Greenwood; Sandy (Kenneth) Shields, Rockwall, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; her special friend, Bob Lewis, Neillsville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Daniel Olson and Arnold Dehne; two brothers, Adolph Wendt and Edgar Wendt; and two sisters, Bertha Gander and Leona Erickson.
