The dry weather is giving the settlers a splendid opportunity to get a lot of clearing done and all are taking advantage of it. Fires are burning in every direction and a great amount of brush and old logs are going up in smoke.

Ralph Thomas is building a new chicken house. This is the first building to be erected on his new farm.

Ignac Cesnik was called to Milwaukee the last of the week on business. He returned Saturday morning.

Pal Marn and Frank Perovshek are brushing for Wm. Dammeier and Jacob Blut for Ralph Thomas.

G. Samberg sold two spring tooth harrows, a smoothing harrow and a plow Monday morning, and became so excited over the deal that he had difficulty in figuring up the value of two sacks of feed.

Miss Marie Crotzer, who has been spending a couple of weeks with her brother George, left Tuesday for her home at Lena, Ill.

Miss Alice Lehmann of Pontiac, Ill., sister of Mrs. Samuel Long, came the early part of last week. Mrs. Long, who has been sick for several weeks, is slowly improving.

Mr. Rosnik came home Friday morning after spending several weeks in Illinois.

Geo. Hintz, Ralph Thomas and A.L. Clair were in Greenwood Wednesday evening.

Geo. Crotzer cut his foot quite severely on Saturday.

Sam Long shipped a carload of bolts to Greenwood one day last week.
