Will, Karen Lea (Marriage - 4 April 1970)

Given in marriage by her father, Miss Karen Lea Will, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neland Will of Rt. 2, Colby, became the bride of William Walter Backus of Hudson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Backus of Willard, at 1 p.m. Saturday at Christ-King Catholic Church in Spencer. The Rev. Bofenkemp officiated at the double-ring ceremony.

Easter lilies decorated the church as 350 guests watched the bride approach the altar in a floor-length gown of white satin accented with a blue stripe running down the center of the gown and featuring a long satin train. A crown top held the long flowing veil.

Mrs. Galen Tieman was matron-of-honor. Miss Mary Jo will and Miss Dawn Will served their sister as bridesmaids. They wore blue floor-length A-line gowns with small flower trim on front and on train. The bride and her attendants carried bouquets of glamillias.

Best man was Galen Tieman of West Allis. Leslie Backus and Richard Yurkovich of Willard were groomsmen. Robert Will of Colby and Jack Trunkel of Willard seated the guests.

Jeff Lingl was ringbearer and Karla Kay will and JoAnn Backus carried baskets of daisies.

Blue and white were the colors used in decorating the Spencer Village Hall where the reception was held.

The bride is a 1967 graduate of Colby High School and a 1968 graduate of Humboldt Institute, Minneapolis, Minn., and has been employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. The groom graduated from Greenwood High School in 1965 and is employed in St. Paul, Minn.

Mr. and Mrs. Backus are now residing in Hudson.
