Gallistel, Melvin Anton (7 JUN1926 - 3 APR 2008)

Melvin Anton Gallistel, 81, of Ogema died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at his home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2008, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Rib Lake. Burial is with full military honors conducted by the Premeau-Schauss V.F.W. Post No. 7817 Westboro at Hillside Cemetery, Ogema.

Visitations are from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home, Rib Lake, and from 10 a.m. until the funeral Monday at the church. There will be a parish prayer service at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Gallistel was born in Stetsonville on June 7, 1926, to Rudolph and Lucille (Rhyner) Gallistel. Mel served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. The family operated the Ogema Tractor Co. from 1946 until 1970. Mel married Elaine Hagen on Sept. 16, 1950. Mel also sold used cars and snowmobiles and had been the owner of a septic installation business until 1994.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; three sons, Larry Gallistel and special friend, Linda Oman of Tomahawk, Mark (Malania) Gallistel of Ogema, and James Gallistel and special friend, Deb Fischer of West Bend; daughter, Donna (Joseph) Dowden of Stetsonville; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brothers, Daniel (Karen) Gallistel of Phillips and Loren (Judy) Gallistel of Rochester, N.Y.; and sisters, Kathleen (John) Aschenbrener of Oconomowoc and Harriet (Maurice) Kelly of Hartford. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
