Raymond Chapman of Shortville went to Neillsville Saturday.

Paul Felser and Harry Cole left for the Dakotas, Saturday.

Mrs. P.M. Ross was at Neillsville between trains on Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Witte were at Marshfield, Monday.

Mrs. Gall of Neillsville after a visit at her son Will’s, in York went home, Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. John Krejck of York were in town to consult her physician Monday.

Mr. L.L. Ayers went to Neillsville Tuesday evening to spend several days engaged with business affairs.

A.E. Wilding of Neillsville was over on business Tuesday.

John Pietenpol is having a new well drilled at his place this week.

Ben Stubbs went to Fairchild on Saturday.

Bert Ayers spent Sunday with his best girl at Neillsville.

Henry Williams, Dave Garbisch and son Edward were Marshfield visitors Tuesday.

Sam Gearke and sister, Miss Bertha visited at Milford Satterlee in Marshfield the first of the week.

Lloyd Kimball has been very ill with tonsillitis and quinsy for the past two weeks.

Fred Vine and his nephew Tom Huckstead went to Crandon last Friday to visit relatives.

Mrs. Frank Davis entertained the four lady teachers at supper Thursday evening of last week.

Miss Tena Balka spent Monday with friends at Neillsville.

The Misses Frances Brooks and Helen Deming spent Tuesday evening with friends at Neillsville.

Geo. Rose sold his fine city bred Guernsey bull to Lou Stevens of Spokeville, the first of the week.

Joe Felser has been pretty sick with tonsillitis but is better and at work again.

Frank Johnson of the town of Fremont has a new motor cycle and enjoyed the good roads the first of the week, coming to town on it.

Ell Lee has carpenters at work building a kitchen on the new part of the house, since Monday.

Mott Osgood is having the interior of his house all repainted and papered and will build an addition to it on the east side in the near future.

Mrs. P.m. Ross will entertain the Circle next week Wednesday.

Albert Jahr spent Sunday with his mother and sister at Neillsville.

Chas. Behling of Route 2 is home from Park Falls since last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Riedel spent Saturday morning with friends at Neillsville.

Mrs. Baer spent Monday at the county seat engaged with abstract work.

Mrs. Dan Gluch Jr. and children came home from a several days visit at Marshfield, Sunday.

Mrs. Ed Wiesner and Mrs. Ed Steinbach were Neillsville visitors, Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. John Clark of Sherwood spent Monday morning here among town friends.

Otto Wittke of the Forest House transacted business at Neillsville, Tuesday.

Fred O. Hankey and Fred Grassman transacted business at the county seat on Monday.

Walter Sternitzky was over from Lynn Tuesday evening to meet his wife who was returning home from her visit with relatives at Oshkosh.

John Mooney left on Monday for Cayuga, N.D. where he expects to spend the spring and summer.

Howard Wentworth came up from Winona, Minn., Saturday and remained until Tuesday the guest of his nephew Rush Wentworth.

Mr. and Mrs. Dan Rausch celebrating their 15^th wedding anniversary Saturday evening entertained a half dozen close friends at cards, followed by mighty fine eats.

Mrs. Ole Johnson of Eau Claire after a couple weeks visit with her sister Mrs. Wm. Schlinsog, the latter suffering with a broken leg, went home Monday.

Miss Mollie Grasser and Mrs. Will Hubing spent Wednesday at Chili attending church services there.

Mrs. Louis Hayden and children went to Merrillan Friday and made an over Sunday visit among relatives.  Mr. Hayden joined them there on Sunday and came home with them the next day.

John Breese went to Chili, Monday.

Mrs. Frank Furgeson and Miss Laura Gerzemehle spent Monday at Neillsville having dental work done.

Miss Lillian Handt is here from Minneapolis since Monday and may spend the summer with her brother Paul at the old home.

Chas. Neinas and son Henry went to Appleton Thursday night of last week to visit Arthur who is attending the Business Collage in that city.

Mrs. Hale Davis entertained the Misses Ora Marsh, Amelia Krause, Lela Potter, Effie Alt, Frances Brooks and Helen Deming at a thimble party one evening of last week.

August Reimer went to Beloit Tuesday night to visit his parents both of whom are sick.  He expects to be gone a week.

Mrs. Rice Davis is visiting at the Gardner McClaflin home at Arpin since Wednesday.  Mrs. McClaflin being ill with rheumatism.

Frank Waterman of Chili came over Monday upon learning of his son Clark’s accident and remained over at his sister Mrs. Gusta Breed until next day.

Frank Converse came down from Withee Monday and after a short visit with relatives here will go to Melrose for an extended stay at his daughter Maud’s, the Fay Stratton home.

Miss Anna Handt came down from Minneapolis Tuesday and joined her sister Miss Lillian at their brother Paul’s Tuesday.  Miss Anna will return to the city again this week, a sister in the city being ill.

Mrs. August Schlinsog is visiting her son Herman. A. and family north of here and her old friend and neighbor Mrs. Dora Garbisch who is so ill at her son Fred’s near the Herman Schlinsog home, since Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Phil Hales went to Lodi Saturday for a few days visit before continuing on to Benton where they will make their home and where Phil has half interest in a creamery with his brother-in-law, E.H. Tucker.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hohenstein and two children of Shortville are home since Monday from their visit at Alma Center.

Rush Wentworth and his uncle Howard who was here from Winona visiting him, spent Monday at the county seat on business.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Williams and child who live on the Ed Jahr farm in South Grant, came home Monday from Markesan where they had been visiting relatives, Monday.

Mrs. Ed Schroeder spent Saturday morning with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Babcock at Neillsville.  Mr. Babcock is fast recovering from a broken arm and Mrs. Babcock is confined to her bed and very ill with stomach trouble.  Mrs. Will Wallace of Alma Center, another daughter is with them since early last week.

H.A. Moll of Sleepy Eye, Minn., who purchased the Henry Riedel farm last winter, arrived and took possession of same early this week and Henry Riedel and family are now living in the old Phil Breseman house on the Gus Beilke farm on route 3.

Friends of Mod Chase of Dallas, Oregon, advise us the Mr. Chase is very ill there at his son Oliver’s, with cancer of the stomach.  Mr. Chase formerly lived a few miles north of here in the town of York and he is well remembered by a host of close friends hereabouts to all of whom, his illness with that dread malady comes as most unwelcome news.

Sunday evening Mr. and Mrs. Clark Waterman of Chili who were visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Beeckler got into a carriage with her brother Rex Beeckler intending to drive out near Chili to Rex’s boarding place with him, and while Clark was standing and adjusting the robe, the horse started and the buggy lurching threw him out over the dash board.  The carriage going over him severely injured him.  He suffered several bad facial cuts beside a scalp wound, which necessitates his being under the doctor’s care since that time.

Mrs. James Tremelling spent Wednesday afternoon at Chili.

Herman Henning of Chili was in town Wednesday.

Fred Schwantes visited his wife at the Marshfield hospital Wednesday.

Ray and Ed Ure and Martin Yankee went to Marshfield Wednesday.

Mermel Wonner was sick with the grip the first of the week.

Miss Essie Bender spent Wednesday at Neillsville.

Mrs. L.J. Stevens and son Cecil Beaty of Spokeville went to Richland County Wednesday on a several weeks visit with relatives.

A.J. Knorr spent Wednesday night at Neillsville.

Dr. Ross spent Wednesday afternoon at Marshfield on professional business.

Peter Lawson of Columbia spent Wednesday afternoon here with his friend B. Tykac.

Wilson Mallory will preach at the Union Church Sunday evening.

Delos Raymond was a county seat caller Monday.

Arthur Stubbs left Monday for Sidney, Mont.

Frances Smith is visiting relatives at Madison since Monday.

Herman Wegner and little son Reginald spent Thursday at Neillsville.

Mrs. Melvina Wright visited relatives at Neillsville several days early this week.

A sister of Fred Schwantes who was here on a visit returned home to Spencer Monday.

Geo. Thayer of Curtis and Julius Kolwrath of Elroy spent a couple of days early this week here at the W.J. Thayer home.

Ray Campbell went to Marshfield Saturday and remained until Tuesday evening, visiting relatives.

A Bible Lecture will be given at the Homer Davis home in Fremont Friday night by Mr. Tetrem followed by Baptismal services the next day, Saturday the 28^th.

Mrs. Frank Waterman and her daughter Mrs. Tom Gibson drove over from Chili Tuesday to see the former’s son Clark at the Beeckler home.

Mrs. W.S. Davis and Miss Emma Kimball entertained a large company of ladies and gentlemen at cards Wednesday evening in promoting the sidewalk fund and helping out the chain gang.

Mr. and Mrs. F.J. Baer entertained a large company of friends at cards Saturday evening for the benefit of the sidewalk fund and added new members to the active workers of the “chain-gang.”

Rev. A.E. Wolfe is enjoying a visit from his brother the Rev. F.F. Wolfe of Milwaukee since Tuesday and they have been holding a series of meetings here in the Union church since that time.

Miss Hannah Dankemyer from near Chili accompanied Miss Ora Davis who teaches in their district.

Miss Dehler of Wonewoc is the trimmer employed in the millinery department of the P.J. Kemmeter Store since Saturday.  Miss Dehler comes well recommended and has every appearance of filling the bill to the satisfaction and pleasure of all concerned.

A week ago Sunday a 7 year old boy living near Willard and a few miles north of Greenwood lost his way and for 3 days and nights wandered about the woods, not being found until Wednesday noon, though searching parties were looking for him during all that time.  The little fellow though suffering much from frost bite, will eventually be quite o.k. again.

Ross Paulson last Sunday left for South Dakota after another car load of horses, having sold the last car load in less than 3 days.  In the last 2 years Ross has sold over 30 carloads of horses, which he shipped in from South Dakota.  His success in the horse business is largely due to his honest methods and his reputation extends over several counties.

Mrs. H.C. Witte who entered St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield Monday underwent a critical surgical operation there Wednesday afternoon.  At this writing she is reported as doing as well as can be expected.  Her many friends here are anxiously awaiting more favorable news of her.

The next attraction at the Opera House will be the Frank and Ollie Daniels new Swede comedy “Ole from Minnesota” in connection with big vaudeville acts.  This company carries all special scenery and a saw mill in operation will be seen on the stage.  This is just the kind of show you will enjoy and at popular prices, 15, 25, and 35 cents.  A large audience should be present at opera house Tuesday, March 31. 

Mrs. Fred Schwantes of the Ridge is home from the Marshfield hospital since yesterday.

H.B. Holmes face has undergone a radical change since early this week.  In our estimation much to the bad, a pretty close shave at any rate.

Mrs. Frank Zorn and Miss Laura Balka visited Mrs. Mary Huff here Wednesday.  Mrs. Zorn has been quite under the weather since New Years and this was her first trip to town in several months.

Miss Bertha Barth with her sister Mrs. Ebert and their friend Miss Catherine Kreiger of Fond du Lac who is visiting them at Nasonville since last Friday, were in town yesterday and continued on to Neillsville for further visiting of friends that day.
