Dix, Elnora (11 September 1887 - 15 January 1970)

Funeral services for Mrs. John Dix, 82, who died January 15, were held January 17 at 1:30 p.m. from the United Methodist Church in Chili, with the Rev. L. L. McCormick officiating. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

The former Elnora Riedel was born September 11, 1887, in the Town of Rock (Wood Co.) After attending Marshfield High School and the former Wood County Normal, she taught schools in Clark and Wood counties.

She was married to John Dix on June 24, 1913, in the Town of Rock. Following his death in December of 1952, she moved to Montana and lived at Wolf Point, and Lewistown. She returned to the Chili area about 14 years ago. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Relatives attending included a daughter, Mrs. C. R. (Dorothea) Grow of Wolk Point, Mont.; another daughter, Mrs. William (Lois) Chapel, of Fort Worth, Tex., was unable to attend. Other survivors include two sons, Lawrence Dix, Sr., of Chili and Wilburt Dix of Rt. 1 Marshfield; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Voight of Chili and a twin sister, Mrs. Dora Pendergrass of Kingston, Wash.; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were six grandsons of the deceased, Lawrence (Larry) Dix, Jr., and Rodney Dix, both of Chili, Donavon Dix o Port Edwards, Ronald Braun of Spencer, Dale Schumacher of Elkhart Lake and James Greenberg of Stratford.

Mrs. William Lindow and Mrs. Ferdinand Schilling sang, with Mrs. Albert Grimm as organist.
