Kastern, Mary Francis (26 JUN 1965)

Miss Mary Francis Kastern, 314 E. Blodgett Street, Marshfield was united in marriage to James Francis Miller, route 2, Loyal on June 26 at a 11 o’clock ceremony at St. John The Baptist Church, Marshfield.  Msgr. A.N. Schuh performed the ceremony and the St. John’s children choir sang.  The church was decorated with white gladioli and Shasta daisies.

Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. Roman J. Kastern of Superior and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Miller, route 2, Loyal.

The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father wearing a floor length gown of nylon organza over taffeta featuring a bateau neckline on the fitted bodice, a cummerbund and a skirt with a straight front full sides and chapel train.  Appliques or roses and seed pearls were featured on the neckline, front of gown and train.  She carried a bouquet of feathered white mums and red roses.

Mrs. Melvin Knops, St. Paul, Minnesota was the matron of honor; Mrs. William Ehlers, Greenwood and Miss Marry Miller, Loyal were the bridesmaids.  The attendants wore floor length Nile green gowns with bateau necklines, lace bodices and empire waists.  They carried daisy pom-poms with yellow centers.

Raymond Miller, Loyal served as the best man and the groomsmen were John R. Kastern and William A. Kastern both of Marshfield.  Performing the ushering duties were Donald Miller, Loyal and George Kastern, Superior.

Wedding day events included a 12:30 dinner and a reception at 3 p.m. at St. John’s School Hall, Marshfield.  That evening a dance was held at Fahey’s Hall, Rozellville.

Missing portion -  Cathedral High School and from Duluth School of Beauty Culture.  She was employed at Milady’s Beauty Shop, Marshfield.  The groom is a 1957 graduate of Loyal High School and farms on route 2, Loyal where the couple will make their home.

The bride was honored with three prenuptial showers.  They were given by Mrs. Bernard Haebig, a kitchen shower; Misses Marie and Lorraine Kastern a surprise shower; and Miss Mary Miller, Mrs. William Ehlers, Mrs. Gilbert Loos and Mrs. Raymond Miller, a miscellaneous shower.
