OBITUARY:
David H. Zuelke, 73, Stratford, died on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford is assisting the family.

David was born on November 12, 1939 in Stratford to Herbert and Elsie (Jilek) Zuelke and was a 1957 graduate of Stratford High School. He also was a 1964 graduate of St. Joseph’s School of Nursing. In 1977 he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree “with distinction” from Loretta Heights College in Denver, CO.

He served as an enlisted member of the United States Army National Guard in Marshfield from January 1957 to October 15, 1961. He then entered the United States Army active duty as a career officer from 1964 until retirement as a lieutenant Colonel on October 31, 1983. He served a one year tour in Viet Nam during the famous Tet Offensive in 1968.

David was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6352 of Stratford. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and was an avid fan and collector of country music.

He is survived by a sister, Debra (Carl) Heusi of Stratford, 2 sisters-in-law, Patricia Zuelke and Diane Zuelke, a brother-in-law Otto Jeske, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers, James and Rodney Zuelke and a sister, Viviene Jeske.
