Talcott, Mr./Mrs. Byron A. (Gold - 25 NOV 1964)

Mr. and Mrs. Byron A. Talcott of Rib Mountain were joined in the celebration of their golden wedding anniversary Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Unity Memorial Hall by about 260 relatives and friends who came from Stanley, Fort Atkinson, Colby, Spencer, Unity, Abbotsford, Marshfield, Wausau, Loyal, Park Falls, Milwaukee, Muskego, Slinger, Stratford, Adell, Marathon, Fenwood, and Plainfield, Wis., and Gary Ind. And Stillwater, Okla.

Open house was held in the afternoon from 2 to 4 o'clock, and in the evening there was dancing from 9 to 1 o'clock.

Ann anniversary cake, decorated by Mrs. Arvid Talcott, and a money tree enhanced the table, from which a 4:30 buffet dinner was served.

Miss Hildegard Brehm, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Brehm, was born in Colby and was edcuated in the Athens schools. Mr. Brehm, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marlon Talcott, was born in Grant County and educated there and in Marathon County schools and was engaged in farming at Unity. Their marriage took place Nov. 25, 1914, at Wausau. They lived on a farm in Unity for 31 years and in 1945 sold it to their oldest son, Arvid, and moved in April of that year to Marshfield, where Mr. Talcott built a new home on St. Joseph Ave. In 1952 they built another new home in Rib Mounty, where they moved and still reside.

After Mr. Talcott's retirement from the farm, he took up carpentry and continued in that occupation until 1957. Mr. Talcott's hobby is wood working, to which he has added gardening and raising of flowers.

While in the Unity area Mr. Talcott served as assessor of the town of Brighton for 19 years, and was school treasurer for Enterprise School.

Mrs. Talcott enjoys crocheting and fancy work in her spare time.

Both are members of the Lutheran Church.

The Talcotts have three sons, Arvid of Unity, Mollen of Park Falls, and Kenneth of Wausau. They have five grandchildren.
