Trunkel, Anton (20 May 1884 - 25 August 1969)

Anton Trunkel, 85, Greenwood, died of an apparent heart attack Monday at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville.

Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 9 a.m. from the Hill Funeral Home, and at 10 a.m. from Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard, with the Rev. Michael Mertens officiating. Burial will be made in the Holy Family Cemetery.

Mr. Trunkel was born May 20, 1884, in Yugoslavia. He came to the United States in 1906 and was married to Anna Stalzer of Joliet, Ill., the same year. He spent a year in Illinois and Minnesota and in 1907 came to Willard, where he settled on a farm. He retired from farming in 1944, and had resided in Greenwood for the last several years. On August 1 of this year he was admitted to Memorial Home at Neillsville.

Mr. Trunkel had held the office of supervisor in the Town of Hendren and offices in the Holy Family Church, of which he was a member.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. John (Ann) Snedic of Greenwood; three sons, Tony, John F. and Edward, all of Willard; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a brother, John, of Greenwood.
