Mashin, Bernice (11 December 1915 - 25 July 1969)

Funeral services for Mrs. Ed (Bernice) Mashin, 53, of Humbird, who died July 25, in Neillsville, were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. from St. John’s United Church of Christ in Humbird, with the Rev. Jack Grether officiating. Burial was made in the Mentor Cemetery.

Mrs. Mashin was born at Watertown, S. D., December 11, 1915, the daughter of Guy and Verna (Clintsman) Turner. As a small child she moved with her parents to the area of Whitewater, where she received her elementary education. While still a young girl, the family came to Clark County, where she attended Neillsville High School.

She worked in Milwaukee for two years and on March 24, 1938, she married Ed Mashin in Neillsville. They farmed in Clark County until six years ago, when they moved to the Humbird area.

Mrs. Mashin is survived by her husband, Ed; a son, Gerald of Tomah; a sister, Mrs. Vivian Kopnick of Dubuque, Ia., and a brother, Vernon Tuner of Owen.

Pallbearers were: Russel O’Leary, Fred Rupnow, William Aebersold, Fred Trachsel, Herb Adler and Archie Kirby. “Whispering Hope” and “Ivory Palaces” were sung by Susie Theiler and Darline Trachsel, accompanied by Mrs. Emma Theiler.

People from out-of-town attending included: Mrs. Vivian Kopnick and Miss Rochelle Kopnick of Dubuque, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Mashin, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fleishman and DeWayne Mashin of Tomah; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Turner and family of Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Theiler of Osseo; Mr. and Mrs. William Koopman and Ramond of west Salem; Mrs. Ken Brager and Mrs. Rachel Brager of Gilman; Mrs. Howard Pierce of Black River Falls; Mrs. Robert Clintsman, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Clintsman and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Clintsman of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Wampole of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Green and Gladys of Eau Claire and many others from the Neillsville, Humbird and Merrillan area.
