Lawrence A. Krak, 89, of Gilman, died on Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Gilman Care Center.

He was born on December 7, 1923 to the late Michael and Mary (Kotecki) Krakowiecki.

Lawrence was born and raised in Gilman, graduating from Gilman High. He went to study computer science at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and later Notre Dame.

Lawrence was an avid outdoorsman and in later years was instrumental in seeing the timber wolf removed from the endangered species list. He also enjoyed tennis in his younger years, gardening and was a fan of all Wisconsin sports teams. He is survived by many cousins and friends.

A funeral mass was held on Tuesday, April 30 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Gilman, with Father Madanu Sleeva Raju officiating. Burial was at the parish cemetery with the Gilman American Legion Post No. 359 and the Lublin, Bellinger, Gilman VFW Post 6186 conducting military graveside rites.
