Gladiolus and white, blue, yellow and pink carnations decorated the altar of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Thorp for the marriage of Miss Marlene Soeller and Don Ulberg, Strum on Saturday, June 27th. Rev. Father Brockman performed the ten a.m. double ring High Mass ceremony and St. Bernard’s Jr. Choir sang.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Soeller, Thorp and Mrs. Marie Ulberg, Strum.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a dress of pure white lace over ruffles of net with scalloped neckline and long point sleeves. Her finger tip veil was held in place by orchids with diamond settings and she carried an equisite (sic) cascade of Roebrum lilies and stephanotis.

Miss Gladi Ebben, cousin of the bride was maid of honor and bridesmaids were Geraldine Soeller, sister of the bride, Mrs. Melvin Maynard, sister of the groom and Miss Sharon Kumbers, cousin of the bride. They were dressed in white, yellow, blue and pink brocaded and satin dresses with taffeta over skirts and carried colonial bouquets of feathered carnations tinted to match their dresses.

Attending the groom were Melvin Maynard, Milwaukee, Arden Geisler, Greenwood and Jim Ulberg, Forbes Air Force, Kansas. Ushers were Dennis Ulberg, Strum and Dennis Moskiewicz, Thorp.

A twelve o’clock dinner was served at St. Bernard’s Church parlor and a reception from two to six was at the home of the bride.

The bride and groom’s mother each wore a white orchid with purple throat corsage.

The bride is a graduate of Thorp High School and is employed as a secretary at the Mutual of Omaha, Minneapolis and the groom a graduate of Strum High School is a supervisor with OBM Supervisor.
