Dommer, Irene Alice (1949)

Strathman-Dommer

Miss Irene Alice Dommer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dommer, became the bride of Harold W. Strathmann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman H. Strathmann, of Colby, on Wednesday afternoon at a 2:30 o’clock ceremony performed by the Rev. Randolph Mueller at Trinity Lutheran Church.

The bride who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of whtie ninon over satin featuring a peek-a-boo skirt with hand-made flowers, revealing the ruffled petticoat of French imported lace. The bodice was fitted with buttons down the back. Alencon lace formed the drop shouldered yoke of nylon grimed with bugle beads and seed pearls.

A deep flounce of Alencon lace accented the waist line and the full skirt ended in a long train edged in lace. Long sleeves tapered to a point at the wrist and were edged with lace. She wore a finger-tip full circular veil of fine imported French illusion with a wide border of lace. It was caught to a tiara of seed pearls, bugle beads and rhinestones. Her heart-shaped bouquet was of red roses and swansonia, showered with streamers of swansonia and sweetheart roses.

Mrs. LeRoy A. Fauset of San Luis Obipso, Calif., sister of the bride, served as matron of honor, wearing a yellow marquisette gown. The yoke of fine ninon had a wide lace edging and the full skirt was gathered with a piquant front pick-up effect and featured a bustle back. Matching gauntlets and a wide picture hat of marquisette completed her costume.

Mrs. Frederick Zellmer of Green Lake, the sister of the groom, and Mrs. Milton Dommer, sister-in-law of the bride, served as bridesmaids. Their gowns were fashioned identically to the matron of honor’s in lime green and orchid, respectively. They also wore matching gauntlets and picture hats. All three bridal aides carried bouquets of yellow and pink carnations and babies’-breath.

Attending the groom were Arnold Strathmann, his borther [sic], Frederick Zellmer, and Milton Dommer, brother of the bride.

A supper was served at 5 p. m. at the home of the bride’s parents with 100 guests in attendance.

The bride is a graduate of the Marshfield High School with the class of 1946; and is employed at the clover Farm Store in Colby. The groom, a graduate of Colby High School served in the U. S. Army for three years rendering service in the south west Pacific. He is now employed as a painter.

Following a wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin and Michigan, the young couple will make their home in Colby.

Those from out of town who attended the wedding included: Miss Gayle Jenkins, Kansas City, Mo.; Ira Halford, Los Angeles, Calif.; Herman Dommer, Denham, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wienke, Emerald; Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Wienke, Glenwood City; Mr. and Mrs. William Wienke, Clear Lake; Miss Rose Dommer, Hudson; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Moser, Marathon; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ahrens, Marathon, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Liebers, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. John Schwartz and Miss Louise Lindner, Dorchester; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Kloth, Dorchester; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Seefelt, Marshfield; and numerous relatives and friends from Colby, Spencer, Riplinger, Unity, Loyal and Greenwood.
