 Dunow, August (1883 – 16 JUN 1964)

FUNERAL AT CURTISS  SAT. FOR AUGUST DUNOW

Funeral services were held in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Curtiss at 2:00 p.m. Saturday for August W. Dunow, 81, Owen, who died at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 16 at the Havenet Nursing Home, where he had been residing the past six months.  The Rev. Roger Tellock officiated and burial was in the Norwegian cemetery at Curtiss.  August W. Dunow was born January 27, 1883, in the town of Hoard.  His marriage to Marie Olson, who preceded him in death in 1949, took place June 28, 1910 at Curtiss.  They farmed in the town of Hoard until 1950, when he retired and moved to Owen.

Survivors include two sons, Henry Dunow, Owen; and Eldon Dunow, Kenosha; four daughters, Mrs. Fred (Inga) Kirschmann, Anoka, Minn.; Mrs. Edwin (Margaret) Ottery, and Mrs. Herbert (Loretta) Skoglund, Milwaukee; and Mrs. Melvin (Patti) Bangle, Minneapolis, Minn.: two brothers, Adam Dunow, Stratford and Arthur Dunow, Lake Villa, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. Emma Dowd, Thayer, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by a son.

Serving as pallbearers were Harvey Wilksman, Harry Kopp, Cornel Erickson, Art Thieme, Vilas Luscher and A. J. Anderson.  Floral offerings were in charge of Mesdames Art Thieme, Harry Kopp, Cornel Erickson and George Shattuck.

During the service, Bunee Kraut sang “Abide With Me” and “Sweet Hour of Prayer” with Rhonda Mattson accompanying her at the organ.
