Geckler, Katherine J. (Spieles) (7 JAN 1944 - 12 JAN 2012)

Katherine J. Geckler, 68, of Escondido, Calif., died on Thursday, Jan. 12 at her daughter Sarita's home, while under hospice care.

A remembrance luncheon will be held on Sunday, July 15 from 12 to 3 p.m. at the home of LeRoy and Mary Spieles, W10709 Spieles La. in Westboro.

The former Katherine Spieles was born on January 7, 1944 in Westboro to Roy and June (Bundick) Spieles. She earned an associate's degree in printing.

She married Leroy Tlusty and they lived in many different places as he worked on oil pipeline construction. She later married Bob Geckler, and they had a daughter. She worked for the State of Wisconsin in their archives restoring books. She later worked in restaurants and cooked and managed the executive dining room at Bell and Howell in Skokie, Ill., and then returned to Wisconsin and lived in Edgerton.

She enjoyed going to church, needlework, designing crafts, flower gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her mother, June Spieles of Westboro; four children, Sandra (Sean) Heiser of Edgerton, Shirley Oliver of Watertown, Sarita (Gene) Wilkins of Escondido, Calif., and Jeffrey (Annette) Tlusty of Waunakee; a brother, LeRoy (Mary); 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, and a grandson, Lucas Oliver.
