Anna Krakenberger (17 Aug 1868 – 24 Jan 1944)

Mrs. Anna E. Krakenberger, 76, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield on Monday, Jan. 24th, at 10:50 p.m. She had suffered from a blood clot in the artery of her right leg which made it necessary for the leg to be amputated that morning. She had been ill at the home of her daughter in Medford and was taken to the hospital on Friday.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:30 from the home and at 2:00 at the Salem Evangelical Church with the Rev. R. Browe officiating. Burial will be made in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Fuchsgruber Funeral Home until services.

Mrs. Krakenberger was born Anna E. Evers in Charlestown, Calumet County, Wis. on August 17, 1868. She moved to Dorchester with her parents when a small girl and was raised on a farm southwest of the village. On August 17, 1892 she was married to George Krakenberger, who owned a hardware store in the village. He passed away on Jan. 20, 1901, and she continued to operate the store until 1929, when she moved to Milwaukee, returning to Dorchester after three years.

She is survived by three children: Mrs. Frank (Evelyn) Heglemeier of Medford, Mrs. Dan (Hilda) Martin of San Diego, Calif., and Raymond of Dorchester; six step-children: Mrs. Otto (Elizabeth) Lulloff of Richland, Wash., Benjamin of Pinedale, Wyo., George of Medford, Mrs. Dell (Clara) Winchell of Dorchester, and Mrs. Arthur (Nora) Herman of Dorchester, Mrs. Willam (Delia) Koerner of Columbus, Wis.; and a brother, William Evers of Owen, Wis. Three children, Walter, Edwin, and Lawrence preceded her in death, as did two step-children, Rose and William. Thirty-five grandchildren survive and her 27 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for the funeral services will be George Meir, Louis Wigstadt, John Habeck, Joseph Skerbeck, William Wigstadt and William Yanke.
