Rose (Laurich) Sauter (09 Jan 1884 - 1972)

Funeral services for Mrs. Rose Sauter, 88, long time resident of this community (Dorchester, Clark Co., WI), were held Tuesday from St. Louis Catholic church here. Rev. Gerald F. Schuh, pastor, officiated at the 11:00 a. m. rites.

Burial was in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery under direction of Maurina Funeral Home. Pallbearers were William Jantsch, Edward Bittner, Joseph C. Konecny, Joe Hennlich, William Miller and Martin Stelzel.

Mrs. Sauter died Saturday about 5:45 a. m. in Colonial House of Colby Where she had resided the past two years.

She lay in state in Maurina Funeral Home from 3:00 p. m. Monday until time of the funeral services. The Rosary Altar Society rosary was held there at 4:00 p. m. and the parish rosary at 8:00 p. m. that day.

Rose Laurich was born Jan. 9, 1884, in the town of Holton, and received her education in area schools. She and August Sauter were married May 26, 1903, in St. Louis Catholic church. They made their home with her mother on the Laurich farm in the town of Holton. They owned and operated the farm until retiring, increasing its size, and developing it into one of the community's outstanding dairy farms.

In 1944 they retired and moved into the Village, selling their farm to Anton Koncel. His son William has since taken over the place. Mr. Sauter died June 4, 1965. Later that year she went to live with her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Alvah Messer, in Spencer. In 1968 she entered Heritage Home in Schofield and in 1970 moved to Colonial House in Colby.

She was a member of St. Louis Catholic church, and an honorary member of its Rosary Altar Society which she served many years as an active member.

Surviving are two sons, Ignatz of Random Lake, and Louis of Wausau; a daughter Mrs. Alvah (Agnes Mueller) Messer, Spencer; 11 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, a son Martin, a daughter, and three brothers preceded her in death.
