Foote, Margaret (MAY 1845 – 12 Aug 1915)

Mrs. Margaret Foote died last Thursday at her home at Great Falls, Mont., and the remains were brought here Tuesday for interment. Mrs. Foote was born Margaret Ross in Quebec, Canada, and was 70 years of age last May. At the age of 4 years she came to Clark County with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ross, and they lived for many years at Ross Eddy. She was united in marriage to Charles Foote and to this union five children were born, the survivors of whom are Oscar of Great Falls, Mont.; Mrs. King of Ashland, Ore.; Mrs. Ayer of Great Falls, and Mrs. Mathwig of Cereal, Canada. Deceased is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. V.D. Graham of Minneapolis, Mrs. Chas. MacDonald of La Crosse and Mrs. D.B. Maines of this city. Mrs. Foote resided on the Foote farm east of the city for many years, but sold it about six years ago and removed to Great Falls with her son and dAughter. She was one of the early settlers of the county and well known to earlier residents of the city and county. She was a woman of charitable and kindly instincts and maintained a large circle of friends by her womanly characteristics. She was a member of the Episcopal Church, the Eastern Star Lodge, the Rebecca Lodge and the W.R.C. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon, services being conducted at the Episcopal Church, and interment being made in the Neillsville Cemetery. Her son, Oscar, and dAughters, Mrs. Ayer and Mrs. Mathwig, her dAughter-in-law, Mrs. Foote, her three sisters and her granddaughter, Mrs. Comstock, of Merrillan were here to attend the funeral.
