Gust Yanke (27 Oct 1898 - 12 Jun 1957)

Funeral services for Gust Yanke, 58, lifetime resident of the village (Dorchester, Clark Co., WI), were held Saturday, June 15, from the Fuchsgruber funeral parlors here. The Rev. Harold Welch, pastor of Salem Evangelical United Brethren church, officiated at the final rites. Burial was in Dorchester Memorial cemetery under the direction of Fuchsgruber Funeral Service, which was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Herman Fitzlaff, Ray Krakenberger, Otto Genrich, Donald Tessmer, Arnold Laack, Herman Beisner, Ernest Mehner and Albert Busse.

Gustav Adolph Yanke was born Oct. 27, 1898, in Dorchester, and lived here until his death last Wednesday, June 12. He had been ill for about a month, and was taken to St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, by ambulance Tuesday when he became critically ill. He died there the following day of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Gust, as he was known to everyone, in the community, worked as a mechanic and electrician for the Abbotsford Hardware company, beginning in 1937. Before his employment with the Abbotsford firm, he had worked as a mechanic serving the people of this community. Gust had never married, and for many years he and his sister Anna resided together in their home here in the village.

Surviving are two brothers, Fred of Dayton, Ohio, and Otto, of Ontonagon, Mich.; two sisters, Ella, Abbotsford, and Anna. Two brothers, William and Ernest, and a sister, Helen, preceded him in death.
