Norma P. Wardell (8 Mar 1907 - 29 Sep 1990)

Norma P. Wardell, 83, of Portage, Ind., died Sept. 29, 1990, at the Indiana Veterans Home in West Lafayette, Ind.

She was born Mar. 8, 1907, in the town of Hoard (Clark County, WI), the daughter of Herman and Matilda (Johnson) Lapp.

Mrs. Wardell was a Porter County, Ind., resident for the past 48 years, a volunteer worker for the Salvation Army and a librarian for the Indiana Veterans Home.

She married Elmer H. Wardell, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Palmer of Oregon and Richard Wardell of Michigan; three daughters, Shirley Wiese of Florida, Doris McWhirter of Valparaiso, and Sandra Gucich of Portage; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Dykes Funeral Home with the Rev. M.W. Robert Craig officiating. Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, Ind. Memorials will be to the West Lafayette Indiana Veterans Home hobby and crafts department.
