Panzigrau-Knutson, Mildred M. (19 Mar. 1917 – 9 Feb. 2009)

 

EDGAR -- Mildred M. Panzigrau-Knutson, 91, of Edgar died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, W1000 Highway N, Edgar. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, and on Saturday at the church from noon until time of services.

EDGAR -- Mildred M. Panzigrau-Knutson, 91, of Edgar, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.

She was born March 19, 1917, in the town of Wien, the daughter of Gustave and Mary (Flegle) Pilgrim. She married Michael Panzigrau on June 1, 1940, in the town of Wien. He preceded her in death Nov. 23, 1982. She was married to Elmer Knutson on Oct. 9, 1991, in Sturgeon Bay. He preceded her in death Aug. 31, 2000.

Mildred taught Sunday school for many years at St. John Lutheran Church and was also a member of the Ladies Aid. She was a homemaker and also worked in the ginseng gardens in the Marathon and Edgar areas. Among her many interests, she enjoyed reading the Bible, visiting with family and friends and dining out.

Survivors include, two sons, William (Sandra) Panzigrau, Wausau, and John (Jennifer) Panzigrau, Eau Claire; two grandchildren, Todd Panzigrau, Weston, and Tracey (Andrew) Baken, Wausau; two step-grandchildren, Jamie (Eddie) Van Dyke and Nathan Kroger, both of Eau Claire; two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Sierrah Baken; and two step great-grandchildren, Abrielle and Liam Van Dyke; one sister, Mabel Punke, Edgar; three brothers, Elroy (Elaine) Pilgrim, Edgar, Glen (Louise) Pilgrim, Piliger, Minn., and William (Adeline) Pilgrim, Edgar; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husbands, Michael and Elmer, she was preceded in death by one brother, Alvin Pilgrim; and three sisters, Selma Hamann, Viola Baumann and Elaine Beattie.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at St. John Lutheran Church, W1000 Highway N, Edgar. The Rev. Al Houts will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, and Saturday at the church from noon until time of services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church, Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services or the charity of the donor's choice.
