Krupka, Catherine (25 Jan. 1868 – 29 Jan. 1940)

Mrs. Joseph Krupka, aged 72 years, and four months, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, on Monday, Jan. 29, at 4 P.M. Her death was caused by hardening of the arteries.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, at nine o’clock from the home and at 9:30 o’clock from St. Thomas Catholic Church, the Rev. Frank Brjekel assisted by the Rev. A. Muehlenkamp and the Rev. N. Zingen of Athens officiated at the solemn requiem high mass.

Catherine Worabella was born on Jan. 25, 1868 at Jahcubana, Austria. She came to America in the year 1888. On May 17, 1891, she was united in marriage to Joseph Krupka at Perth Amboy, N.J. In 1897 her husband purchased some land in the Town of Johnson which was then all wilderness. This she helped clear into a splendid farm.

In April, 1937, they retired and moved to Milan where she has lived up to the time of her death. She had been in failing health for several weeks and on Saturday, Jan. 27, was taken to the Marshfield Hospital.

Mrs. Krupka was an active member of the Catholic church and of the Ladies’ Altar Society.

She leaves to mourn her death besides her husband, three sons and four daughters, Mrs. Victor (Catherine) Wendstrom, Duluth; Stephen Krupka, Milladore, John Krupka, Rt. 2, Athens; Sister M. Clarita Lima, of St. Rose Convent; Mrs. Geo. (Anna) Hiebl, Dorchester; Mrs. Harold (Margaret) Jusseau, Eau Claire, and George Krupka, Milan; 17 grand-children and one great-grandchild; one sister in Jersey City, N.J., and one brother in Austria, besides other relatives and many friends. Her sons and sons-in-law acted as pallbearers. All the children and the sister from Jersey City attended the funeral.
