August Toltzmann, a successful farmer, was born 18 Sep 1855 in *Pommern, Germany, the son of Gottlieb Toltzmann and Louise Tank.  He married Wilhelmine Manthe (b. 11 Jun 1868, Hustisford, Dodge Co., Wisconsin) Dec. 1884 in Spencer, Marathon County, Wisconsin at St. John's Lutheran Church.  She was the daughter of Ferdinand Manthe and Hanna Kelm.  August and Wilhelmine's son Albert Gottlieb Carl Toltzmann was born 15 May 1892 in Spencer, Wisconsin.  August died 17 Jun 1920 and Wilhelmine passed away 12 years later, 22 Aug 1932, from cancer.  Both are buried in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, North Spencer, Wis.

 

*Pommern is an Ortsgemeinde – a municipality belonging to a Verbandsgemeinde, a kind of collective municipality – in the Cochem-Zell district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde of Treis-Karden, whose seat is in the like-named municipality. The municipality lies on the river Moselle’s left bank roughly 2 km upstream from Treis-Karden
