Bruesewitz, Dennis Earl (24 June 1945 - 26 Mar. 2009)

STRATFORD -- Dennis Earl Bruesewitz, 63, of Stratford, formerly of Unity, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2009, in the Palliative Care Unit at Saint Joseph's Hospital surrounded by his loving wife and their children.

His memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2009, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix will officiate. A private burial service will take place at a later date.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home in Abbotsford.

Dennis was born June 24, 1945, at the family farm in the town of Brighton in Marathon County to Delmar and Lila (Cramer) Bruesewitz. He attended a small country school in the town of Brighton, then continued his education at Colby High School.

Dennis returned to the family farm and worked there until his marriage to Linda Zrutskie on Jan. 9, 1963, in Wheaton, Ill. Following his marriage to Linda, they returned to the area and bought the homestead from his parents and continued farming. They later moved off the farm, relocating in the Stratford area, and Dennis then began work at Roehl Transport.

Dennis then began employment with County Materials in Marathon City as a heavy equipment operator until the time of his death. Dennis was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer.

In his younger days, Dennis loved hunting -- all kinds of hunting. He was an avid baseball player and bowler. The "Shake Of The Day" was a trademark for Dennis, and for those family and friends who knew him, Dennis was a lovable and dear man as well as a great jokester. "Walker," which was his CB handle, will be sadly missed by all.

Dennis is lovingly survived by his wife, Linda, of Stratford; his children, Deb (Tom) Paul of Abbotsford, Mike (Julie) Bruesewitz of Unity, Tim Bruesewitz of Stratford, and Lisa (Tom) Wussow of Stratford. He was the proud grandpa of Tyler and Logan Paul; Brittni, Jason and Bradley Bruesewitz; Lindsey, Marissa and Taylor Wussow. He is further survived by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margaret and Harry Zrutskie; a sister, Cheryl (Tim) Sebold; and a brother, David (Sandy) Bruesewitz of Unity; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Arlyn and Berdell.

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Abbotsford is assisting Dennis' family with all arrangements.
