Bornowski, Leonard B. (20 Jan. 1921 - 16 Oct. 2008)

STRATFORD -- Leonard B. Bornowski, 87, of Stratford died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at Golden Living Center, Three Oaks in Marshfield. Arrangements are pending and Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

STRATFORD -- Leonard B. Bornowski, 87, Stratford, reached his eternal home Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at Golden Living Center, Three Oaks in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, at St. John's Lutheran Church (high steeple) in the town of Wien, Marathon County, with the Rev. Matthew Christians officiating.

Burial will take place in the church cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Troy Kuyoth, Steve Veers, Greg Veers, Jeff Veers, Kory Holbach and Clay Bornowski and honorary pallbearers will be Ray Bandle and Delmar Telschow.

The visitation will be held at St. John's Church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mr. Bornowski was born Jan. 20, 1921, in the town of Frankfort to Adolph and Gertrude (Custer) Bornowski. He attended elementary school in the town of Frankfort. He and LaVerne C. Hoernke were united in marriage on Sept. 1, 1945, at St. John's Lutheran Church, town of Wien. They observed 63 years of marriage. The Bornowskis farmed in the town of Frankfort, and he also was employed by Monroe Trucking. They moved to the village of Stratford in 1989. Leonard enjoyed driving his farm equipment, driving truck, socializing and spending time with his family. He also liked snowmobiling, riding his moped and wintering in Mission, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, LaVerne and their children, Joan (Robert) Veers, Cheryl (Dennis) Kuyoth, all of Stratford, Dawn (Glenn) Holbach of Wausau, and David (Linda) Bornowski of Edina, Minn. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a sister, Violet (Clarence) Pilgrim of Stratford.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Arnold.

Leonard will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at Three Oaks for their loving care.
