Luepke, Walter C. (24 June 1906 - 19 Apr. 1987)

SPENCER - Walter C. Luepke Sr., 89, Spencer, died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where he was admitted Tuesday.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, with the Rev. William Ruhbusch officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Rux Funeral Home, Spencer.

He was born June 24, 1906, in the town of Brighton to Frank and Sophie Luepke. He was educated at town of Brighton Schools and St. John's Parochial School, North Spencer.

He was married to Anna Neumann June 4, 1931, at Trinity Lutheran Church. She survives. He was a licensed cheesemaker for 18 years at the Woodland Cheese Factory, east of Unity. He farmed for three years in the town of Brighton, before moving to Spencer in 1946, where he worked for Spencer Farmers Co-op. From 1962-72, he worked for Spencer Farm Supply, and for the Spencer Foodland for a number of years. The Luepkes celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1981.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, of which he was a trustee and elder for a number of years, the Lutheran Laymen's League, and was a Sunday School superintendent for nine years.

Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, Walter, Jr. of Reedsburg; a daughter, Mrs. John (Donna) Kiedaisch of Woodridge, Ill.; a brother, Emil of Spencer; a sister, Mrs. Ervin (Milda) Rindfleisch of Spencer; and five grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, his stepfather, H. R. Neumann, and two brothers.
