Hoefs, Dean Allen (14 Dec. 1972 - 4 Apr. 1997)

SPENCER - It has pleased the Almighty God to summon out of this vale of tears here on earth, and take to Himself in Heaven, the soul of Dean Allen Hoefs, 24, on April 4, 1997, from St. Joseph's Hospital Hospice Care Unit where he resided since March 21, 1997.

Dean had fought a long and courageous battle with cancer since 1981.

Dean lived at 709 S. Cherry Ave. with his parents. He was born Dec. 14, 1972, in Marshfield, to Donald and Darlene (Schade) Hoefs.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Rembs/Kundinger Chapel and again from 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Brighton, Marathon County. Pallbearers will be Steve and David Haselow, Keith Kegler, Ronald Hoefs, Greg Hoefs and Gary Schade.

He graduated from Minnetonka, Minn., High School on June 10, 1992.

He worked at Old Country Buffet and Festival Foods in Minnetonka and was employed by Opportunity Development Center in Marshfield until Sept. 11, 1996, when illness forced him to quit.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer and its youth league. He was also a member of the Spencer Jaycees and was a number one Green Bay Packer fan.

Dean is survived by his parents; four sisters, Dawn (Tracy) Hoeye of Marshfield, Lori Hoefs of Phoenix, Ariz., Linda (Gary) Viets of Marshfield and Jane (Shawn) Kappel of Stratford; two brothers, Mark Hoefs of Madison and Brian Hoefs and his fiancee, Sarah Bychinski, both of Spencer, two nieces, four nephews; and his paternal grandfather, Edward Hoefs of Colby. He was preceded in death by one niece, Kelsey Viets, his maternal grandparents, Edward and Ruth Schade, and his paternal grand mother, Elinor Hoefs.

He will be missed by all of his loved ones.
