Milan, Wisconsin - June 3, 1948

 

Arlo Benzmann arrived Friday from Morristown, Ill., to spend until Tuesday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Benzmann.

Robert Wilkins and family are here from Hammond, Ind., for a several weeks’ visit with Mrs. Wilkins’ sister, Mrs. J. B. Houlehan, and her brothers, Chester and Elmer Bunkelman, and their families.

Mrs. William Brown left Monday with her brother, Gustave Bengert, Wisconsin Rapids, for a trip through the western states. They will visit a sister in Texas and another sister in California, relatives in Idaho and then will continue to Yellowstone National Park. They expect to be gone about a month.

Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Ellingson and daughter arrived Thursday from Fort William, Canada. Ellingson left [at least one line is missing from the text] Ellingson and daughter will remain for a several weeks’ visit here. Ellingson has recently returned from a trip to Europe, where he had visited England, Sweden, the Netherlands and Germany.

The excavation for the new Lutheran church has been completed and work on the basement will be started soon. The church will be moved onto the basement.

Paul Benzmann and son, Arlo, from Morristown, Ill., and Charles Schmidt spent Saturday fishing at Rib and Spirit Lakes.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Taylor arrived Friday from Chicago to spend the holidays with her mother, Mrs. John Haderlein, her brother in law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Young and three brothers, Frank, Andrew and Rudolph Haderstein, and their families.

The excavation for the Vincent Yost home has been completed. The work at the church and the Yost home was done by a bull dozer.

Anthony Vesely just completed a concrete walk in the front of his home.

Richard Ganser, Mosinee, spent the past week with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Schreiber.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bub and family were at Wausau Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. John Schreiber and daughter, Catherine, and Mrs. Martin Redlinger and daughter, Margaret, left Sunday for Montiwoco to attend the funeral of an aunt Monday.
